There has been a long felt need to strengthen the cooperation among universities, research laboratories and industries. While a few individual organizations have made efforts in this direction, there are not many institutionalized efforts. Further, there is no formal mechanism to document the fruits of these efforts and promote the needed linkages.
It is well known that BITS has established institutionalized linkages with research labs and industries through its practice school programme since 1972. It has also been conducting work integrated learning programmes, consultancy for industries and many other training programmes towards human resource development in industries. Such programmes spin off the benefits of the professional experts from various organizations for on-campus / off-campus teaching and learning process at BITS, Pilani.
BITS with its long standing commitment to university-research labs-industries linkages is, therefore, launched a quarterly journal entitled CURIE (Journal of Cooperation among University, Research and Industrial Enterprises) from April 2008 to stimulate the purpose of cooperation among universities, research labs and industries.
