International Collaboration

  • Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS), USA

    An academic collaboration between Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani and Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, Maryland, USA was started in 1989, under the umbrella of an US-India project " Educational Collaboration for Improvement of Teaching, Laboratory Skills and Training in Advanced Biotechnology". The collaboration included (a) the exchange of student and faculty for conducting Practice School projects, First Degree, Higher Degree dissertation and Ph.D. work, (b) improving the laboratory facilities and (c) holding Seminars /Conferences and Workshop in the area of Biotechnology at BITS, Pilani. Over the Years twenty students and faculty members of BITS, Pilani have completed their first degree/ higher degree/ doctoral thesis projects in the department of pathology, microbiology and biochemistry. Currently three students are doing doctoral thesis at USUHS laboratories. More than twenty-five research papers were published in reputed international journals. A state of art Biotechnology Laboratory was established and three International seminars/workshops were conducted in collaboration with USUHS faculty at BITS Pilani.

  • George Mason University ,USA

    Recently BITS Pilani has started collaboration with George Massion University, USA for student and faculty exchange for Practice School project in the area of Bioinformatics and computational biology. First batch of four students will start their project in May 2004.

  • National Institutes of Health, USA

    BITS, Pilani has signed a MOU with National Institute of Health, USA for research collaboration in the area of epigenetics and human health. The collaboration is aimed at students and faculty exchange programme for completing doctoral thesis work. Currently two students are working at NIH for their Ph.D. thesis work with Dr. David Symer under this collaboration.
