When did BITS Pilani start the MBA Program?
BITS had a MBA program since 1971. After overall restructuring of our educational system, it was re-organized into MMS (Master of Management) program. Discussions took place in 2006 and BITS reverted to the MBA program which is a full 2 year master's degree in management.
What is the eligibility criterion for the program?
The minimum eligibility is a first degree B.E/B.Tech or an equivalent BITS degree. An Equivalent BITS degree is any first degree from BITS (BE (hons), or Msc (tech) programs.)
What is the selection procedure for the program?
The selection criterion followed includes an all India BITS higher degree online exam followed by a group discussion and interview.
Can students from Arts and Science background participate in the program?
No. Arts and Science students from other institutions cannot participate in the program.
If I am a Msc degree holder, can I apply for the course?
This is a technical MBA. So the qualification would be a technical first/higher degree.
What are the specializations offered in the program?
BITS has flexibilities in its system for the students. Students can attend any course they are interested in. The degree therefore does not have any specialization along with it. There are two streams and many functional areas where students can specialize.
Are there specializations like Finance, Marketing, and HR etc?
There are no such specializations offered in BITS but the flexibility associated with BITS enables students to take courses from finance, economics, marketing streams that are available. During the second year, there are four electives where in the students can choose finance, marketing electives which are offered with the other electives.
When are applications for admissions invited?
The admissions are held once a year and notification is released during the month of April. The online exam is usually around the third week of June. The classes begin from 1st of August.
What is the probable number of student intake each year and how many students are given interview calls?
We are planning an intake of around 60. The ratio of calls given to seats available is variable and a broad range of this ratio is 5:1 to 10:1
What is the fee structure for the course?
The MBA Program at BITS pilani is highly economical as BITS Pilani believes in "Education for Economic Advantage" The fee for 2008-09 is 30000 tuition fee per semester and hostel fee of 1000 per semester. For recent fee structure visit www.bitsadmission.com
Are there summer internships associated with the course?
There is a practice school program which is a form of internship where students are placed in firms across the country by the Institute's practice school division for about 6 months which is a part of the curriculum during the last semester. Students may also take up summer internships after first year in the Industry as well as academia. The students are optionally allowed to opt for paid co-instructor positions at Industries across the country.
What is the placement record for MBA?
The Management Group has been running Masters in Management (MMS) Program since more than 3 decades with almost 100% placements all through. We revived the MBA Program in 2006 and first batch was fully placed with attractive offers from reputed firms like Morgan Stanley, BSC, Delloite, Oracle, Citizen, and JP Morgan Chase etc. The statistics for the next placements are yet to arrive. Are all students required to live in hostels?
The BITS Pilani campus has an excellent academic environment and all the students are generally supposed to live on campus.

What are the courses offered in the BITS MBA Program?
The students graduating out of the program are given a MBA degree without any specialization in the degree. This is because of the academic flexibility embedded in the course pedagogy which allows students to opt for Electives in General Management, Operations, Finance, Economics and Marketing.
When is the placement session planned?
For the graduating batch of MBA 2012, placement session is planned during October-December 2011
How many students are available and eligible for placements?
There are 52 MBA students of class of 2012 available for placements.
What is the BITS MBA Advantage that distinguishes the students from other B school Graduates?
The input to BITS MBA program which is only BE/ B Tech or equivalent and Institute's idiosyncratic technical excellence ensures an output of efficient techno-managers. There are a multitude of case studies from Harvard Business School and IIM Ahmedabad which are included in the BITS-MBA curriculum.
BITS also has a global alumni base and alumni frequently visit the institute and share their industry experiences. Alumni also mentor students through video conferences. We also stress a lot on soft skills such as negotiation skills and techniques which are essential in business.
We also place emphasis on leadership and problem solving in a unique course called 'Business and Society'.
The practice school component in their last semester where students spend around 6 months in the Industry as an integral part of their curriculum sets them high apart from the crowd.

Faculty Recruitment happens as a centralized process at BITS Pilani. While advertisements announcing specific requirements are released from time to time, interested candidates also may apply anytime.
