  • 2nd National Conference on MEMS, Microsensors, Smart Materials, Structures and Systems (ISSS MEMS-2007)
                           at BITS, Pilani from November 16 - 17, 2007.

Jointly Organized by BITS, Pilani and CEERI, Pilani.

MEMS, Microsensors, Smart Materials, Structures and Systems are contemporary areas of vigorous research and development all over the world. They have the potential to transform our lives in much the same way as microelectronics and information and communication technologies have done. In combination with nanotechnologies, novel functional materials, nano-biostructures and technologies, they hold the promise of revolutionizing medical diagnostics and treatment. Besides their impact on the healthcare sector, aerospace, civil construction, natural resource, industrial and environmental monitoring are the areas that would be greatly impacted by the development of new functional materials, MEMS, NEMS, micro- and nano-sensors and their ubiquitous spread and networking along with real-time computing.

The conference aims to bring researchers, academicians and industrial producers in the area on a common platform to share the results of their latest research and development, their thinking and vision, and to take stock of the national and international developments in the area and the opportunities they have thrown up from the point-of-view of further growth and development of this field in India.

  • International Conference on Soft Skills Development Strategies: Corporate and Academia perspectives
                           at BITS, Pilani from September 19 - 20, 2008.

Competence in technical as well as different aspects of soft skills has been important for achieving success in corporate world but with the advent of globalization importance of soft skills has increased manifold. Today, lack of competence in soft skills is marked as one of the reasons for poor rate of employability of technical graduates. This conference aims to initiate and facilitate discussions among the academicians, industrial personnel and the educational planners on the existing practices and emerging challenges in soft skills development strategies; ascertain suggestions for strengthening the soft skill development strategies in higher education institutions so as to meet the industry needs and improve the employability rate of graduates; and develop a new programme in soft skills to be offered at the national level.
