R. K. Mittal received the B. E. (Hons.)
and M. E. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and
Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering from the Birla
Institute of Technology and Science, (BITS), Pilani,
India, in 1973, 1975, and 1992, respectively. In
1975, he joined BITS, where he is currently a
Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Computer
Science. In 1990, he became an Associate Professor
and, in 1995, a Professor. For the last 29 years, he
