Brief Biodata:

 

R. C. Jain is working as a Professor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Group in Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani from February, 1995. He obtained BE (Electronics  & Communication), and  ME (Microwaves) degrees from the University of Roorkee, India (now IIT, Roorkee) in 1970 and 1978 respectively and completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada  as a Commonwealth Scholar in the year 1988. Before joining BITS, Pilani he also worked as a Class–I Government Servant (as Assistant Station Engineer, All India Radio) after being successful in Engineering Services (Electronics) Examination–1970 conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC), India. He has also worked as an Assistant Communications Manager in Indian  Airlines Corporation for 4 years (from July, 1979 to July 1983). In Indian Airlines, he worked in the planning cell for the ‘Real Time Communications Network’ that was being planned` at that time for airline passenger reservations, etc. He got CDIL Award of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE), India in 1994 and K S Krishnan Memorial Award of the IETE in 1997 for his papers published in the IETE  Journals.  During a period of 2 years – from August, 1, 2002 until July, 2004 - he was on leave from BITS, Pilani and worked in the Department of Information and Communications, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea as “Foreign IT Professor”  under a scheme of the Government of  South  Korea. GIST is a technical university set up by the Government of South Korea in 1993 and offers only MS and Ph.D. programs.
