Other Achievements:

 

After obtaining my B.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) Hons. degree from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, I proceeded abroad to obtain M.Sc. (Engineering Design) degree from the University of Salford and Ph.D. (Materials) degree from Cranfield University, U.K. Thereafter I returned to India in 1975 and joined the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering.  In view of my educational background, the Selection Committee awarded five advance increments.  Thereafter, I was very soon promoted to the post of Reader in Mechanical Engineering and became full Professor in the year 1985 at an age of 34 years.  Was Administrative Warden for six years and Co-Ordinator of School of Biomedical Engineering for six years. Co-ordinator of the School is academic, administrative and financial Head of  School and is part of University Administration.

During 20 years of  service at IT, BHU, I was deputed abroad a number of times.  First, I was sent to the University of Bath, U.K. for post-doctoral research and then to Hartshill Medical Institute at Stoke-on-Trent, U.K.  as a Visiting Professor of Biomedical Engineering under exchange of scientists scheme of the Royal Academy of the United Kingdom and the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).   In February 1992,  I was deputed by the University to the Government of India to undertake my responsibilities as Scientific Attache at the Embassy of India at Washington, D.C., U.S.A. I worked as Science Counsellor at the United States from February 1992. to July 1995.  I returned to India in July 1995. and rejoined my duties at I.T., B.H.U. and in the month of August 1995, I moved to BITS., Pilani  as Professor of  Mechanical Engineering.  I am serving BITS, Pilani since then and am presently Dean of Research & Consultancy Division at BITS, Pilani. I was deputed to Tulane University, New Orleans, U.S.A. by BITS..under  faculty exchange programme between Tulane University and BITS., Pilani in the year 1997.  During this visit course, material was developed in the field of Environmental Health and I delivered a lecture to the Tulane University students in the area of Environmental Health Scenario in Developing Countries. These students were doing their Masters degree in Public Health at Tulane University.

  I am Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) (FIE) and Ultrasonic Society of India, Fellow of Indian Society for Nondestructive Testing, Member of American society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), U.S.A, Member of Indian society of Mechanical Engineers (ISME) etc.

  Over a span of 37 years of teaching and research career, I have produced several research papers, have guided eight Ph.Ds and several dissetations.I have delivered several invited lectures, have served different educational and research bodies in different capacities and have worked on several sponsored research projects and have undertaken a number of consultancy projects.
