Current research interests:

Computer Networks (Protocols (IPv6 included), Design, Applications),

Distributed Computing (OS, Grid Computing, Cloud Computing),

Wearable Computing,

Pervasive Computing (OS, Protocols, WSNs, Design, Applications, Services included)

Number of Students Pursuing PhD under my Supervision: Four (two of these likely to submit their Thesis soon in the different areas of CSE.) 

 

Select External Engagements

He has led / participated in several externally funded research projects including those funded by the European Commission, Government of India (DoE/DIT-MCIT, DEC etc.), the French Government (FMoFA, INRIA, GET, Telecom-Bretagne etc.), several corporate laboratories including the Microsoft Research (Redmond).

He has been a member of four IEEE Technical Committees and a co-opted member of a specific sectional subcommittee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) of the Government of India.

·         Led the European Commission's Next Generation Network Initiative's Infrastructure QoS group at Brussels.

·          Involved in two EC-grant based projects in next generation networking in association with eleven European partners.

·          He is also a Member of the IPv6 Task Force of Govt. of India (called ‘Intra-Agency Workgroup on IPv6 by the MCIT, GoI)

·         Co-opted as a Member of the sectional committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) of Govt. of India < for E-Learning Standards>

·          Invited to conduct a comprehensive Y2K workshop for the telecom industry professionals of a Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) based company in the areas of communication and networking related hardware and software (1999). Also, provided charge-free Y2K consultancy to the NTPC, on specific invitation (1999).

·         He was also on the Panel of Y2K experts approved by the Ministry of Information Technology, Govt. of India, in the hardware, operating systems and network-oriented application software areas (1999).

 

Editorial and Review Engagements

 

He has been a reviewer for several international journals and magazines including the IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Internet Computing, IEEE Communications, International Journal of Computer Networked and Distributed Systems (IJCNDS), IISc Journal etc. He is a Member of the Editorial Boards of the IJCNDS.

Invited to work as a Referee for several international and national conferences including several major IEEE conferences / seminars as well as a judge / referee / reviewer for quite a few international competitive events for researchers including Google PhD Forum at PerComp 2009 etc. Invited to work on PCs, TCs of a host of international and national conferences etc. around the world.

He has an overall experience of about twenty four years of which the last eleven years have been acquired at BITS Pilani (as Assistant Professor in CS and later as Associate Professor in CS). He has held professional memberships of the ACM, ISCA (LM), IE, ISTE (LM) and CSI.
