1.      Tiny6 (codename) Project involving research in IPv6, Mobility and Power-conservation aspects of Sensor Networks in pervasive computing environments, (BITS will contribute mainly to IPv6 Stack Architecture) and the integration of Sensor Networks and IPv6 Mobility), Funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (with project partners from France, China, Korea and India), Total project grant: Euros 61,000, Total Project Cost: Euros 81,000.

2.      Grid-One Computing Initiative, Phase-1, Funded by Microsoft Research, Redmond, Grant Value: USD 20,000. <Status: Completed>

3.      Grid-One Computing Initiative, Phase-2, Funded by IBM, (in terms of Equipment & Software Grant), Grant Value:  (in form of hardware etc.): Rs. 9 Lakhs. <Status: Completed>

4.       Journal Server Freeware Digital Library Project, Phase-1: Search Engine, Web-Client and Portal Design and Development,, Funded by the JST, Trinity College, Oxford University, Grant Value (in form of software and manuals etc.): Rs. 1.2 Lakh. <Status: Completed>

5.       Under the European Next Generation Network Initiative, IPv6-based Multimedia Internetwork QoS (IPv6-MMI-QoS) Project, Funded by European Commission, Brussels, (with seven international research partners from five countries including France, Spain, Denmark and Switzerland), Total project grant: Euros 1,15,000, Grant Value (to BITS alone): Euros 18,000. <Status: completed.>

6.      Establishment of BITS-Microsoft Mobile Computing Lab., Funded by Microsoft Research, Redmond, Grant Value: USD 35,000. <Status: completed.>

7.      Establishment of IP-based Scheduled Video Multicasting and Video-on-Demand facility using Cisco IP/TV Technology, Funded by the Cisco, San Francisco, Equipment & Software Grant, Grant Value: Rs. 30 Lakh.

8.      Design and Development of Multimedia Courseware for BITS-Virtual University, Funded by DIT, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India, Grant value: Rs. 28.9 Lakh

9.      IP-based Desktop Delivery of Lectures: Project ID2L, Funded by the Distance Education Council, Govt. of India, Grant Value: Rs. 10 Lakh.

10.  Set up of a Video Studio for Work-Integrated Learning Programmes, Funded by the Distance Education Council, Govt. of India, Grant Value: Rs. 20 Lakh.

Select External Engagements

 

·         Led the European Commission's Next Generation Network Initiative's Infrastructure QoS group at Brussels.

·          Involved in two EC-grant based projects in next generation networking in association with eleven European partners.

·          He is also a Member of the IPv6 Task Force of Govt. of India (called ‘Intra-Agency Workgroup on IPv6 by the MCIT, GoI)

·         Co-opted as a Member of the sectional committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) of Govt. of India < for E-Learning Standards>

·          Invited to conduct a comprehensive Y2K workshop for the telecom industry professionals of a Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) based company in the areas of communication and networking related hardware and software (1999). Also, provided charge-free Y2K consultancy to the NTPC, on specific invitation (1999).

·         He was also on the Panel of Y2K experts approved by the Ministry of Information Technology, Govt. of India, in the hardware, operating systems and network-oriented application software areas (1999).

·          Invited to work as a Reviewer for several papers submitted to various IEEE Journals and Magazines including IEEE Internet Computing and IEEE Communications.

·          Invited to act as reviewer for several technical books by different publishers.
