Remembrance
U Aswathy 2017ABPS1051P
I see you in strangers with green eyes
And faces that look nothing like yours,
In swarming streets, on sweltering nights,
And I can’t help but look twice.
I see you sometimes, with my eyes closed--
Flashing a see-saw smile,
Winking from across the table--
And wish for you when I open them.
Memories of you
Are like a constant, dull throb
At the back of my skull
And yet, I find myself
Wanting to remember
More than I want to forget.
