Institutional Research in Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, USA


Over the past two decades, Alicia Betsinger has helped 2-year and 4-year higher education institutions in the United States, both public and private, contextualize their data and build a culture of evidence. She formerly served as the Associate Provost of Institutional Research at Dartmouth College for nearly seven years. She led the team that transformed the Fact Book away from static pdf's to an interactive self-service tool. She also worked on the creation of numerous data marts with both administrative and survey data. Her other duties included program evaluation and assessment, data management, and analytics.

Prior to Dartmouth, she served as the Assistant Director of Business Intelligence at The University of Texas System where she managed a team of analysts and consultants who built the first-generation data visualization dashboards. As the Director of Institutional Research at Southwestern University, she conducted predictive analyses for enrollment management efforts and fiscal planning. She also developed, maintained, and enhanced methods to evaluate the effectiveness of the institutional research process. She also held multiple roles at the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) and conducted public policy research at the Ray Marshall Center for the Study of Human Resources at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. She holds a PhD in Applied-Experimental Psychology, with an emphasis in Organizational Psychology from Saint Louis University.
