               CHARACTERS

               Mr. Reddy- A school teacher

               Jai- A schoolboy

               Manav- A schoolboy

               Akash- A schoolboy

               SETTING

A bustling street with a crowded pavement. Buses occasionally stop to pick passengers and
move on. The street is full of restaurants and different kinds of shops. Three boys, in school
uniform, are talking amongst themselves, standing at the bus stop while wanting to reach
home. It is already dusk, and the boys are in search of the right bus.

               BEGIN.

(At a bus stop on the street)

Jai: Hey Manav, should I make you count your pending expenses. This is the fourth
consecutive time you ate something off my money!

Manav: (exclaiming) fourth? Yeah, you might very well now remind me of my dues from my
previous birth! It already got balanced a week back when I helped you out by buying you an
entire geometry box! Can you imagine you forgot that thing on a day when Reddy takes our
mathematics classes! Thank you stars that I was able to bail you out from serious
repercussions. And somehow, now you ask me about repaying you back.

Jai: Okay, thank you, Mr. Manav, but this was supposed to be a different thing. Food
expenses and general expenses should always be kept separate. I’ll definitely pay you back
for the geometry box one day, but next time you’re the one who’s paying for the burgers. Go
on with your blabbering; nothing will change.
Akash: What do you think Jai, Manav has to forget his geometry box for you one day so that
               you  can  pay  him  back  for  that?  Settle  the  deal  boys,  anyways,  we’re  already  late  for  home;
better be on the lookout for buses.

Jai: Talking about Reddy, that guy had almost caught me today when he found me roaming
               outside during Mrs. Mukherjee’s class.

Manav: Seriously what a prick this guy can be! The other day I felt so embarrassed when he
caught me throwing paper balls at Anant. On top of it, Diya happened to pass by and also
noticed me getting a nice bashing from Reddy (red-faced).

Jai: I would have paid to watch that scene (giggling).

                                                                                                      250
