SETTING
A singular light hangs over a hospital bed. A young man is bound to the bed by leather straps,
unconscious. His body is unmarked and unscathed, and his wrists are red from struggling
from his straps. Two figures, a tall man named Hugo and a short man named Braum, in white
lab coats and a thick mask obscuring their faces are preparing for a procedure. Both of them
are with round rimmed glasses, and speak with deep voices. The office that the patient is in
houses a variety of syringes, tweezers, and unmarked chemicals.
BEGIN.
Hugo: (Counting through his syringes) One… Two… Three… Four… And five. That should
be all of them. We also have the vial of Lithium just in case the subject becomes a little too
agitated.
Braum: Subject F seemed to have performed admirably under the new drug. (Shines a light
into the subject’s eye). But alas, he seemed to develop intense hives, frequent blackouts and
finally died within a few hours (Turns to his colleague). Have you made the proposed
modifications?
Hugo: (Agitated) yes, yes. Despite my demeanors I am (takes a deep breath) a professional! I
take deep pride in what I do, and I find it insulting that you ask.
Braum: (Starts to inspect the subject’s vitals) If I recall correctly, we’ve had 6 deposed
subjects due to your substandard work. I believe my questions are somewhat justified.
Hugo: (His left eye starts to twitch as he starts to approach his colleague. He walks up to his
face, and looks up at him. He starts to speak loudly) Be careful on who you speak to,
otherwise I’ll have you to be subject G instead.
Braum: (Unphased by his colleagues comment, he lazily looks at him)
(The subject starts to wake up under all the commotion. He opens his eyes, but is blinded by
the light above him. He cringes away, and lets out a small moan. He has a splitting headache
and pain across his body.)
