Hollow
Somya Tripathi
2019A4PS0474P
I toiled so hard without any foresight
I laboured all night by the lamplight
That moment of elation when it all came to fruition
Was so short-lived that I made no motion
And now I am hollow.
I shunned everything even the so-classed “pleasure”
Only to be left with an empty treasure
The joy that I felt while climbing up the hill
Vanished into dust when I looked out of the window-sill
And now I am hollow.
I can’t tell but something’s surely amiss
Because they called this facade a sweet, sweet bliss
Oh!, How I envy who has some aim defeated
For they can look tomorrow with fervour rejuvenated
But now I am hollow.
Oh, I don’t want to be satisfied
Oh, I don’t want to be gratified.
