Thy Hate!

If thou must hate us, let it be for naught,

For hate’s sake, it ought not to be fought.

Do not hate us for our colour or our hair.
We too have rights, thou art not fair!

We all are wight, we all are same.

There’s no difference between us, so why do thou blame?

“Thou art good learn’d”, thou once said,
With thy tone and expression as much as dead

How doth thy expressions fly?

As thou see us passing by!
Thou ought not to hate us behind our backs.

Don’t hate us for our skin, thou call us blacks?

If thou must hate us, let it be for hate’s sake;

Look at our interiors, thy hate shall prove fake!
