eyes. Those were the eyes of a wise owl. One who has seen the world. The eyes of a man who

               has lived a life.
The bus stopped with a jerk. A young boy came running onto the road following a football. All

the passengers looked out of their windows.
“Watch where you’re going kid, you almost got yourself killed,” said Terry.

“Stay on the pitch boys!” shouted the Football Coach. “We’re already running late, the last

thing I want is an accident”
“Sorry Sir, I’d take care” said the boy as he ran back into the ground.

               The bus started again.
“Lucky boy, he could’ve been killed,” said Jerry. “So careless with his greatest asset, his life,

don’t you think one should be more careful?” he continued.

“Do you really think that?” asked Dylan.
               “What?”

“What you said. Do you really believe that Jerry?”
               “What part?”

“About it being one's greatest asset.”
“Oh, I surely do Mr. Choke,” he said with a grin. “Sometimes we humans don’t really give

much attention to the fact that we were given the gift of life by god. We were the chosen ones.

Don’t you think so? That we’re lucky to be alive?” he questioned back.
               “No”

“May I ask why?” he said, bending towards him.
“If it was a GIFT as you say, why would god not let everyone enjoy it? Why would he take it

away from them when they’ve barely begun playing with it?” he said.

Dylan’s eyes filled up. He took out a handkerchief and wiped a tear. Jerry offered him a sip
               from his canteen.

“I am really sorry, mister. I’ve heard about your wife. I didn’t mean to---”
“Don’t be. It’s just that ever since the accident it’s been really difficult” he said with a heavy

throat. “You cannot even imagine what it feels like. Only if I had been home that afternoon.

               Maybe. Just Maybe I could---”
“It’s okay Dylan, I can understand the pain of losing a loved one”

“I don’t know why I’m talking about this. I’ve never talked about it with anyone.”
“Maybe you feel you won’t get a chance later.” said Jerry in a cold tone.

The smile on Jerry’s face slowly changed into a straight face. His eyes squinted and his breath
               stopped for a moment.
