Tamali Bhattacharyya has a Masters in Economics from Calcutta University and a PhD from the School of Education Technology, Jadavpur University. Currently she is a Research Consultant with the Teaching Learning Centre, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus. As research consultant, she has initiated and contributed in many avenues to cater research and development in the forms of projects, conferences, workshops and FDPs at TLC, BITS Pilani. Dr Bhattacharya has been a Research Project Manager in several Education Technology based projects at IIT Kharagpur with Media Lab Asia and NMEICT. She has several journal and conference publications to her credit including a few IEEE publications. Tamali is an expert in developing, designing and implementing a multi-modal computer-aided software Khelapara for primary school children. As part of this initiative, a set of attractive multimedia contents and do-it-yourself exercises were designed and integrated into the system by her team to guide the learners through the various school curriculum subjects.Her research interests include education technology, instructional design, pedagogy, rural and tribal child education and social economics. She is a co-founder of an NGO, ASMA (Association for Supporting Marginalized Aspirations) based in West Bengal.
