Prof. Paritosh Shukla (Associate Professor)
Department of Chemistry
BITS Pilani,
Pilani Campus.
Dr. Shukla is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, since 2010. After finishing his Masters in Chemistry from IIT Delhi, he went on to complete his PhD in October 2005 from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, Taiwan, where his general area of research was transition-metal catalyzed organic synthesis. Then, he took up a postdoctoral position at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan, as a synthetic organic chemistry postdoctoral fellow where he was broadly involved in the synthesis of organic materials for OFET (Organic Field Effect Transistors). In his next postdoctoral stint, he diversified his area of research as a medicinal chemistry postdoctoral fellow at National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), Miaoli, Taiwan. There his research encompassed design, synthesis, characterization, SAR, hit to lead optimization etc. of heterocyclic molecules as aurora kinase and EGFR inhibitor anticancer drugs. Presently, his research comprises organic synthesis and docking studies of new heterocyclic chemical compounds that can be used against bacterial infection, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, etc. He is simultaneously working on synthesis and applications of functional organic materials. He is a keen teacher-learner, a student watcher, and likes to interact with young people.
