Prof. Sailaja Nandigama is an Associate Professor at the Humanities and Social Sciences department of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Rajasthan, India. She completed her PhD in Development Studies in 2009, from the International Institute of Social Studies, the Netherlands with a Netherlands government fellowship (NFP), and also worked in the University of Sheffield, UK as a Research Associate in a ESRC-DFID project; and the Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), the Netherlands as a Strategic Post-Doctoral researcher before joining the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, Rajasthan, India in 2014. At present she is actively engaged as an Associate Editor with the interdisciplinary Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences (JESS), and is also part of the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Women’s Studies (JIWS), USA. Prof. Nandigama is a reviewer of several Scopus indexed journals. She is a Nominations Committee member of the board of Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS), USA, and a member of the Development Studies Association (DSA), UK. She received recognition as a subject expert in Development Studies by the Government of India, and has also received financial awards from academic research networks such as the RGS-IBG, UK; and the FLARE network at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. She has published her research in various international peer-reviewed journals, and published books and book chapters with reputed publishers such as Springer Nature. Currently, she is co-editing a joint special issue of JIWS and WAGADU on “Contemporary South Asian Feminist and Youth Activisms: Focus on India and Pakistan”.
