A Simpler Life
Roshan Roy 2017A7PS1172P
I wish life was simpler
A great big battle of light and dark
Of fires and beasts and holy grails
Wars, and kings, and men of faith.
But no, that's not what we got
Chains, these chains are all around
The dreary responsibility, the needless aspirations
This endless cycle of want and get.
We wish to leave these bonds
Run to a world with bigger things
Where thoughts are clearer and minds are free
Where fishermen fish, and thinkers think.
We wish we had the courage
The daring to let us pass
This gate, built by Tartarus
To the lands where no bonds gnaw.
But no, that's not what we got
Chains, these chains are all around
The dreary responsibility, the needless aspirations
This endless cycle of want and get.
Oh, what will happen if you don't win?
To the others, the ones who dream your dreams
You must win, oh you must
That's what matters, you see, winning is a must.
We look at the lands of freedom - we see it everyday
In the moving frames, the letter blocks,
They are there - we look at them
These lives of earnest living.
I wish life was simpler
A great big battle of light and dark
Of fires and beasts and holy grails
Wars, and kings, and men of faith.
But no, that's not what we got
Chains, these chains are all around
The dreary responsibility, the needless aspirations
This endless cycle of want and get.
