Adieu Ma Cherie
Sarkar Bharat A Waresh 2017A7PS0087P
Sound of the mindless filled the room of mourners
The high priest murmured arcane words and cryptic actions
There She laid, lifeless on the cold stone,
In the palace where her crown once shone.
Not a single eye without the pain, cried the heaven in the coldest rain.
Once the life of every ballroom, charmed with her grace
Living life on her terms with her honesty and innocence
A single bee lost her way into this room, come maybe to pay obeisance
Dressed in death in finery, the mourners stood frozen in the abbey,
The rains lashed heavily as she stepped out for her final journey
Asphalt on the wet road will miss her wild abandonment in every parade
Soon the last of the prayers rent the air heavy with despair
Flames from the already burning pyres threw heat at the families standing by
Stray dogs with vermilion marks across their forehead mingled with the mourners
Crows sheltering from the pouring rains cawed their grief in unison
Heavy steel gates swung open and the sight of the heated furnace seared us all
A stately figure in sparkling bright robes seemed so lonely as sobs raked his frame
Holding his daughter close to him he watched helplessly in grief
As images of their life together played deep within his mind’s screen
As life’s long and winding highways lay ahead without his constant companion
