Tailor: Would you say that a few bad days and some crippling bouts of self-consciousness
don’t determine who a person is?
Anna: I said shut up.
Tailor: So to conclude, would it be accurate to say that I’m a good therapist who loved her
brother and who just so happens not to have a perfect life?
Anna: Stop it.
Tailor: And is it okay to not have a perfect life?
Anna: (quickly) Yes.
Tailor: So I’m a good therapist who doesn’t have a perfect life, which is perfectly okay.
(Tailor jots this down. She then closes her notebook.)
Tailor: Well Anna, it appears our session is over. I would ask you to reschedule an appointment,
but I’m sure you’ll be back whenever you want.
Anna: Oh I don’t think so.
(From her pocket, Anna pulls a switchblade. They open it, revealing the sharp blade. Tailor
watches in horror as Anna stands to approach her.)
(Mike notices Tailor’s change in demeanour.)
Mike: Soph, what’s wrong?
Anna: You can’t get rid of me just like that, Sophie. That’s not how this works.
Mike: Honey, talk to me!
(Tailor is terrified.)
Tailor: I tried everything. I did my best.
Anna: Clearly that wasn’t enough. You get rid of me, I die. So if you wanna take me out, I’m
taking you with me.
(Anna approaches Tailor with the knife, stopping right before Tailor. The two maintain eye
contact.)
Mike: You can get through this, Tailor. I believe in you.
Anna: But what if I...
Tailor: ...fail?
Mike: You won’t. I know you won’t.
Anna: I’m no good, child-killing, therapist. Maybe I...
Tailor: ...deserve to fail.
Mike: Nobody deserves to fail. Everyone deserves a second chance.
Anna: Except for...
Tailor: ...me.
