Me and my Shadow
Sayeed Ahmed 2017A4PS0331P
I have a shadow hooked to me
Walking right beside me,
Come nightfall he waits for another day
For the sun to come up and play.
He follows me like a puppet,
Never to spout a word.
But don’t mistake him as a Muppet,
You can’t kill him with fire, water or even a sword.
As the sun goes down the horizon,
He becomes all tyrannous and strong.
Gaining his energy for the night later on,
Perhaps he has fought or perhaps I am wrong.
Watching over my shoulder every second,
Like a shield protects me from evil.
He does this, not asking for a single pound,
Like a knight of times medieval.
He has nothing to show for except his plea,
For without light he is all but me.
