Dianne: Fiancee. I can’t believe you appointed Frank out of all people to get rid of that wife of

yours. You could have chosen any lawyer in the world.
Sullivan: Only if you ever told me anything about your husband. Do not tell me you’re the one

               who did this?
Dianne: He was my fiance. And what? Do you mean– are you out of your mind. I hated the

man, but I would not kill him. I can ask you the same question. You didn’t go as far as this did

you? Please tell me you’re not the one behind this.
Sullivan: Don’t be stupid. Of course, I did not. I wouldn’t ask you in the first place, woman.

Dianne: We are dead anyways. Your wife is gonna tell him all about us, from when she caught
us. With all these suspicions we are sure to go to jail.

Sullivan: Don’t worry about that. She does not know your name, and you had brown hair back

then. There’s no way the Inspector can know about us. All he would get from my wife is that I
               cheated on her.

Dianne: Makes you seem like a gentleman for sure, a cheater could very well be a killer. It
would bring all the suspicion on to you.

Sullivan: You’re one to say. You are as much of a cheater as me.(They hear footsteps
approaching them from the steps), He is here, let’s continue to be strangers before the officer.

               It’s our best bet.

Dianne nods. Enter Moriarty and Marple
               Sullivan: What did she say?

Moriarty: You’re not a very loyal man are you now? You better get this divorce mister, she
               deserves better than you.

Sullivan sulks and breaks eye contact. Moriarty looks through a tray of personal belongings of

the victim. He takes out his wallet and looks through it.
Moriarty: Does he always keep a picture of you in his wallet? (He looks at Dianne)

Dianne: As long as I have been with him. We loved each other.
Marple: Yeah yeah, yet you killed him.

Moriarty: Please, Mrs Marple. Let’s not start that game again. Well, based on this I think I

know who the killer might be. Let’s wait for Toomes, I need to confir– (He gets interrupted by
the loud creak of the door yet again)

               Enter Toomes
Moriarty: What timing Toomes. Did you get me the report?

Toomes: As you suspected sir. (Toomes hands over a file to Moriarty)
Sullivan: You were telling us who the killer is.

                                                                                                      189
